 Compensation to each Afriqiyah crash victim's family - Each family of the victims of the Afriqiyah Airways' A3330-200 crash received an initial compensation of US$ 100,000, the secretary of the airline, Sabri Chadi, revealed here Friday. In an interview with PANA, Chadi disclosed that the compensation figure was worked out based on many factors, including the victims' countries of residence. He said the insurance arrangements were being made according to international laws and the legal systems of the victims' countries, adding that the compensations would be fully paid when all inquiries regarding the identification of legal guardians of the victims had been ascertained. The plane crashed 12 May near Tripoli Airport, claiming the lives of all but one of the 103 people on board. The lone survivor was a nine-year-old Dutch. The victims included 67 Dutch, 13 South Africans, 13 Libyans, 11 crew members, made up of four Belgians, two Austrians, one German, one British, one French and one Zimbabwean. Chadi pointed out that investigation into the cause of the crash was still on although earlier reports indicated that the cash was caused by bad weather. {afriquejet} |
