Expert advocates strategies for purifying waste water - Countries with shortage of water, be they African or for eign, rich or poor, should find a strategy for purifying waste water for re-use in order to promote and diversify their water potentials, according to a top French water expert.
In an exclusive interview with PANA Thursday, the last day of the two-day worksh op on "the appropriate techniques for the purification of waste water in Libya", the Operations and Maintenance Manager of the French Industrial Company, Degremont, Jean Claude Seropian, said countries must find ways of purifying waste water for re-use by their people.

According to him, a lot of countries are now using the techniques of waste water re-use, with a large percentage, especially in the industrial sector mainly in a griculture for irrigation purposes.

The water technology expert stated that there were several techniques in terms of waste water re-use, adding that the better the quality of purified water, the more complex the technology used upstream must be in order to reach the required purity level.

Seropian said the solution could be found in the collection of waste water in the urban areas, to be purified and then re-used in agriculture.
